Applications and Suitability:

Type B bags are suitable for handling dry, flammable powders and combustible dusts with a Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE) greater than 3 mJ, but must not be used in the presence of flammable gases or vapors.

Both Type A and Type B bags:

• Are constructed from plain-woven polypropylene or other non-conductive materials.

• Do not have any built-in mechanism to discharge static electricity.

However, Type B FIBCs offer enhanced safety through:

• Use of materials with low breakdown voltage (< 4 kV) to prevent dangerous discharges.

• Prevention of energetic propagating brush discharges (unlike Type A).

Cautions When Using Type B FIBCs:

• Do not use to transport flammable liquids or gases.

• Avoid using in areas where flammable vapors or solvent gases may accumulate.

• Not recommended for dusts with ignition energies below 3 mJ.
